Whitby Chiefs Mosquito Tier 2 Team Champions at Chatham Tournament

The Whitby Chiefs Mosquito Tier 2 team won the Chatham AA tournament the
weekend of June 25-27. The team went 5-0 during the weekend, and had
outstanding defense and pitching along with timely hitting throughout the
tournament. The Chiefs played 3 games on Saturday, beating London Badgers
(Minor AAA) 11-1, then beating Tecumseh 5-1, and Kingsville 11-0. On Sunday
they played Walker Homesteads in the semi final and won 10-5, which put them
against a tough Tecumseh squad for a second game. In the final Whitby
prevailed 10-4 in 6 innings. Whitby used 8 pitchers
and all pitched well. The defense was outstanding
only gaving up 2 runs on the Saturday. The weekend capped a 2 week period
of great baseball as the team went 10-1 in two tournaments after being
finalist the previous weekend at the Whitby Fathers day Classic.
