Peterborough Tigers Win Hamilton Mosquito AA Tournament - July 8 - 10, 2011

The Peterborough Sports NRG Mosquito Tigers won the Hamilton AA Invitational Tournament on the weekend of July 8th-10th. The Tigers started the tournament off with a forfeit win 7-0 over Welland. The Tigers than lost to Niagara Falls 10-5. The Tigers were led by Malcolm Loubser-Munn with 3 hits, other hits went to Ryan Shaughnessy(2),Liam Millar,Matthew Curphey,Carter Seabrooke,James White,Connor Cavanagh, and Blake Cherwaty. Runs were scored by Curphey(2),Seabrooke,Loubser-Munn, and Owen Butler. The Tigers than got on track and beat the Barrie Red Sox 7-6. Eight different Tigers earned hits: Curphey,Butler,Shaughnessy,Cherwaty,Cavanagh,Millar,Brock Newell, and Liam Potter and seven Tigers scored runs: Curphey,Seabrooke,White,Cherwaty,Newell,Potter,and Millar.Seabrooke,Cavanagh, and Curphey combined strikeouts pitching the victory. Than the Tigers pounded out 25 hits beating the Oakville A's 22-3. Cherwaty,Shaughnessy,Newell, and Loubser-Munn led the way with 3 hits each. Cherwaty also led the way with 4 runs batted in and Shaughnessy,Millar, and Loubser-Munn had 3 each. Loubser-Munn pitched the win striking out 4. The Tigers came up and against the Niagara Falls team again in the semi-finals. Seabrooke pitched 6 1/3 innings striking out 9 batters leading the Tigers to 8-3 win. Seabrook and Ryan Kinmond led the way with 2 runs batted in and a hit each. Seabrooke earned the player of the game in the semi-finals. In the finals the Tigers came up against a feisty Eastern Ontario Baseball opponent the Port Hope River Rats. Tigers winning 11-10. Newell and Curphey led the way with 3 hits each and Loubser-Munn had 2 hits. Other hits went to Butler,Shaughnessy,Seabrooke,Cherwaty,Cavanagh,Kinmond, and Potter. Butler led the way with 3 runs batted in and Shaughnessy and Seabrooke had 2 each. Single rbi's went to Curphey,Cherwaty,Cavanagh,and Loubser-Munn.Cavanagh,Shaughnessy, and Newell combined for the win. Newell was named Peterborough's player of the game in the finals. The tournament win raised the Tigers overall record to 19-6.
